Student Evaluations- Instructor's
Questionnaire
Summer 2002
What qualities or characteristics helped to make the course instructor effective?
He keep the class insteresting by using real life situations and incorporating them with the material we were going over. He would give the class tips on what to do, what not to do and how to handle different situations for when we get our careers started. He would also always make sure the students got every and all information he talked about so we could go over it again.
The instructor has a good sense of humor and makes learning fun. It was hard to sit in an evening class for over two hours during the summer, but his teaching style made it more enjoyable to attend class. The instructor is very knowledgeable and intelligent, and he was able to present the information in a way that made it less confusing to those of us who had never studied tax law before. I really enjoyed the way he condenses the chapters onto Power Point slides, which made it easier to pick up on the key topics of the chapters. Also, having spreadsheets designed for the homework problems helps to understand what is going on in the problems.
The tax return.
Homework assingments were tough, but they were really effective to learn the concept and basic idea of tax planning because in the process of solving the problems, I could learn to think problems and cases critically.
It is not often that accountants are funny. You made the class enjoyable for this non accounting major by using your sense of humor. The use of technology was great (Lasik has now lost his title as king of the web). By including the outside resources, I now know how to find information. I have never done my own tax return, so this was a really informative class for me. The use of the automatic submission forms made turning in points and homework easy.
Sense of humor, use of technology, extremely knowledgeable about subject matter an applied it to real world situations.
I like Tidd's sense of humor.
Instructor's knowledge on information systems helped in figuring out different tax problems. The intructor's ability to explain a problem through simplified calculations and worksheets made it easier to grasp the concepts.
Professor's teaching skills and presentation skills are proniment. I felt he is really professional.
What made the instructor effective was the knowledge he brought to the subject. By hearing how and when information is used made the class seem more real. By “real” I mean how the information that is being taught will be used in life after accounting 346. I also thought that the use of the computer in the course helped with my computer skills. This is the first class I have had that everything was computer based and I believe it helped a lot.
Ron has excellent written communication skills, and obviously a great deal of knowlege in the area of computers and technology. This is very helpful, particularly when the course is distance ed.
I enjoyed this course because Ron provided instruction and real-world application for the course material. Ron's sense of humor provided a relaxed atmosphere in the classroom setting - lending to a more favorable learning experience. Ron's web page provided vast amounts of infomation, G&A, and daily assignments - allowing students to retrieve the information and assignments at a speed that is more applicable to the working student.
Understanding of the course topic. I learned more in this class than I ever expected. I will certainly use this in my career and personal life. Thank you.
