Student Evaluations- CWU Student Comments
Summer 2003

What changes could be made to improve learning in this course?

Ellensburg

I felt that the excel assignments caused some confusion in the way they were set up. Excel courses should be required if it is going to play such a big role in the class. I also think there needs to be a more set grading key fro the excel assignments.

Yakima

Less reliance on check figures (real world doesn’t offer them). Nature of class would have lent to more memory based assignments. (I.e. not open book).

Wenatchee

Note: That Excel spreadsheet is required before this class. People with no experience with Excel will not do as well as they could.

Nothing. Great technology, Great class! Tuition was higher than my Masters program.

The teacher appears to have a warped sense of what is appropriate behavior for a teacher. He comes off as having a grudge against females and made several inappropriate remarks regarding his views. I personally have enough written material (emails/homework) to warrant disciplinary actions or legal actions. He will eventually cause CWU a lawsuit if his “personal” remarks are not stopped.

A time limitation regarding changing or adding to schedules already posted. Check the emails he sent out. There are quite a few offensive towards the female gender. And his last quiz, which I got 8 out of 8, was completely offensive.

I am assuming that the last comment refers to this definition for a matching question in the last terminology quiz:

In tax, the penalty associated with the progressive income tax schedules used by those who are not single. Outside of taxation, the penalty associated with nagging or lazy spouses.

It should be noted that I purposely worded this with the accepted (genderless) tax term, "spouse." Only a biased interpretation would read any gender content to that term.
