Student Evaluations- Instructor's
Questionnaire
Spring 2002
What qualities or characteristics helped to make the course instructor effective?
I enjoyed participating in class because of your enthusiasm. You were genuinely interested in the course curriculum and I gained respect for the field through your teachings. Your sense of humor only added to the class and I think you should teach this way in the future.
I thought the web-site with all the required work due for that day was extremely nice, except it changed quite a bit. You were very understanding to some of our different issues like too much work or more time, etc. All of the power point slides of the lecture was a great tool that you provided. Your guidelines for the issues web site helped and our quick feedback to all of our homework was nice. I liked the idea of our constant grade report, everyone likes to know where they stand.
the fact that when he was done making fun of the stupid questions, he answered them to the satisfaction of the individual, classtime be damned. he also was available for help when needed, and i feel im much better off with the knowledge that i possess now than before, because the standards were so high.
His expertise and experience. He appeared to be knowledgeabel and knew what he was doing. He demonstrated that he had real life experience in accounting and in accounting information systems. Helped me appreciate not only accounting but information technology, as well. He was humerous which enabled me to keep attention and to remain focussed; two and half hours is not that short a session.
The level of knowledge present was useful. Examples were often used to apply the issues to the real world.
The web site, was good. The lecture were very informative and not overly cluttered with "buzz words". The lecture also presented the information in such away that it connect to other topics we studied in accounting. Alot of accounting course don't do that
You knew the topic well. Your sense of humor in a ridiculously dry and boring topic was helpful.
Obviously you know what you're talking about. I felt confident in your knowledge at all times. The PowerPoint slides were generally helpful in taking notes, although sometimes the lectures got a little long. One thing very helpful was availability--you almost always got back to me on the same day, which is more than can be said for many professors.
Ron's firm grasp on technology and the use of it as part of the learning process made it easy for me to keep up with an otherwise fast paced class. Recieving class updates and class notes via email and from the website made it alot easier to get hold of additional resources.
Ron, your humor was somewhat useful, and somewhat distracting at the same time. I think that the webquests were and effective tool in helping us understand the issue that we were learning. I also think that the technology presentations are an effective tool in understand technology that is currenlty avaiable.
His sense of humor; the fact that he actually truely seemed to know what the hell he was talking about
I liked the fact that he was candit. When instructors try to put thinks in a nice way, it lightens the impact and doesn't help the students. Seeing as I have worked in the accounting profession, I think students need to get use to open criticism because when you are working the people don't always care about how you might feel. Over all, I though the teaching method was a nice change. Most of my instructors have been push overs. I liked the challenge the course offered as well as the out of class assignments such as the SUA and the Webquests.
The instructor's knowlegde about technologies and the subject in general was helpful in understanding the class.
Your knowledge of the field, was definately helpful because you were able to answer my questions about the subject.

I think that SUA material was a very efficient way to learn how accounting system works and how internal control works in the system. Although the assingment which you gave us was lots of work to complete (it took so much time, too), it provided us( at least me) to have a basic idea of accounting system and importance of the internal control. In addition, because of this class's practices( home work and SUA), I could easily understand the internal control functions which I also had to know in auditing class. It was very benefitial. Thus, the materials which you gave us helped me to understand not only accounting systems but also other accounting related things to know. In fact, I am gettinng more interests in accounting and auditing than before. Thank you! Ron And also, the format which you suggested us to use: to think issue, fact, authority, conclusion. First, I had no idea how I could follow the format to think and get answer of the issues. However, once I get used to use the format to think, it is very useful. Actually, I used this way to think and make structure for my idea to write a paper in my other class. (just let you know it is good).
The last lecture you gave was funny. You have been too serious for the whole quarter. I like the PowerPoint slide show and crossword puzzles.
