Homework

The purpose of the homework problems is to help you integrate the text material and the organizing structures that we discuss in the lectures. After you have completed the problems and we have reviewed them in class, you should have a better understanding of the technical material and how to use the analytical frameworks that we discuss in class to organize and solve problems.

I will identify the problems (in the text) before we start to discuss each chapter. Often I will provide computerized templates (in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint) that you must use to solve those problems. They will be available from the course web-page or distributed as an email attachment before we start the related chapter.

NOTE: If you access the files from the web site you MUST download them to your computer before you work on them. Save your work frequently and definitely save it before you submit it to me.

The problems are due before the class on the scheduled due date. Submissions must be via email attachments with the email subject entered in the format "abc Homework xx" (without the quotation marks), where, abc is the course number and xx is the homework number. Thus, the email subject line for the first homework for ACCT 455 would be: 455 Homework 01. (See the Email Policies and Procedures page.) You should bring printed copies to class so that you can make correcting notations when we review them in class.

Grading is based on:

  1. Your presence in class when we review the problem (no presence, no points)

  2. The completeness and accuracy of your submission

  3. The timeliness of your submission in the manner prescribed on the Email Policies & Procedures web page.
