ACCT 455- Accounting Information Systems

Course Objective

Our primary objective in this course is to introduce you to the concepts and issues associated with accounting information systems. Our emphasis will be on those that affect accounting professionals who:

  • Audit organizations and, consequently, their accounting information systems

  • Advise clients about system design and implementation

  • Use accounting information systems in their career activities

At the end of this course, you should:

  • Understand the

    • Factors that influence the design and implementation of an accounting information system

    • Technologies, processes, and policies that comprise an AIS

    • Role of AIS in decision-making processes

    • Dynamic nature of the digitized, global economy in which accounting professionals serve

  • Be able to

    • Perform a basic assessment of an accounting information system

    • Discuss the relevant professional standards and ethics
