Objectives & Outcomes

The objective of this assignment is  to help you learn how to write a cover letter for your résumé. You will accomplish this by writing a cover letter for the résumé that you wrote for the last communications assignment.  

After completing this assignment, you should be able to:

  1. Write your cover letter (using Word).

  2. Upload the file to your wiki.

  3. Submit the document as an email attachment.

Task Procedures
1. Write your cover letter (using Word)
  1. After reviewing the references listed above, open a new document in MS Word.

  2. Write your cover letter using the appropriate formatting tools.

  3. Save your file.

2. Upload the file to your wiki
  1. Login to your wiki at pbwiki.

  2. From the FrontPage, select the Show All Pages option, then go to your bio page.

  3. Select the edit page option, then the add files option.

  4. Upload your cover letter, then return to your bio page. You may need to refresh that page to update the listing of files.

  5. At the end of your bio, insert the phrase, "My résumé cover letter:" (without the quotation marks, then insert the link to your  document.

  6. Save the changes to your wiki and notify your teammates about the update.

  7. Log out.

 
  1. Submit the file as an email attachment.
  1. Prepare an email to submit the file.

  2. Attach your file to the email and send it. (The process by which you do this varies with the email application that you use.)
