Course Objective

Our primary objectives in this course are to help you improve your:

• professional communications skills

• computing skills and

• awareness of accounting career opportunities.

The objectives will be fulfilled by assignments involving professional communications and computing skills and participating in roundtable discussions with CWU accounting alumni.

At the end of the course, you should be able to:

• prepare and deliver communications (including your résumé) that are appropriate for the different audiences that you will encounter in your career

• use the more advanced features in Excel and web searching to solve problems that accounting professionals encounter on a daily basis, and

• identify the numerous career paths that are available to accounting graduates in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors of our global economy.

Our secondary objective is to help you develop the skills, knowledge, and professional orientation that supports the life-long learning effort that is essential to your career.
