Student Evaluations- Instructor's Questionnaire
Spring 2003

What qualities or characteristics helped to make the course instructor effective?

The instructor is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about this subject, and it reflected in his approach to and presentation of course material. His was anything but an "I have to teach this course to collect my paycheck" approach. Rather, he conveyed his interest and the course was far more engaging as a result. Another aspect of the instructor's effectiveness is his thoughtful and conscientious approach to ensuring that students get the most out of the class, including the integration of skills beyond the subject matter outlined in the course description. I enjoyed the use of the projects, the web quest assignments, and the take-home testing format. I feel I got more out of each of these than from studying the text. The text alone provided good, necessary base information, but the other elements made it relevant and brought it all together. The lectures were well prepared, and I enjoyed having the slides available as an effective set of lecture notes. I liked not only his presentation structure, but his style as well... using an appropriate mix of seriousness and levity. In a rapidly evolving field, the instructor kept things current by sharing the latest releases on relevant developments, whether by injecting them into the lecture or by email updates. This again is a reflection of his interest in the topic. The instructor was available and eager to help outside the classroom, and I never got the impression that a visit to his office was ever seen as an intrusion. He appears seriously committed to his students.

The instructor was very knowledgeable in regards to the topic of the class. He presented new issues related to e-commerce and accounting that I had never considered before. The class was very well organized and presented.
