Halfway into 2002, tax professionals confront a new array of aspirations for technology. Concomitantly there is a new array of acronyms. Since it has been a couple of years since techie talk has been the focus of this column, it seems like a good time to get up to speed. The purpose of this column is to examine some of the technologies that appear to have a bright future and a potential impact on accounting professionals and their clients. The emphasis is on Web services, contract automation, and distributed computing.
